Studio Policies

Lessons are scheduled per month and paid for prior to the 1st of the next month. Shared Zoom sessions are available throughout the week for any extra help.

Virtual Lessons are available through Zoom or Facetime!

Students should come to lesson prepared with their music. To progress well with piano a student needs a decent instrument. Your instrument should have 3 things: all 88 keys, touch sensitivity (be able to play loud and soft), and pedal connectivity. As long as your instrument has all of these things, your child will have all he/she needs to start lessons.

Students should practice every day. You can help your child with this by setting aside a time in the day for practice and by putting the instrument in an environment where they won’t easily be distracted. Below is a helpful chart to show how quickly a student will progress given they have good practice habits.

Practice Time per Day:

0-15 minutes - Little to no progress. I will have to review information at each lesson.

15-30 minutes - Some progress. Early on students will be easily moving through the music I assign. As students get to more difficult repertoire, things will slow down a bit.

30-60 minutes - Students are making big strides. Early on, students should be moving beyond what I have assigned. Students will be getting to advanced pieces much quicker than those who do 0-15 minutes. And as much work as it is, my students who practice this much generally enjoy music much more than those who do 0-15 minutes.

Lastly, by having diligent daily practice we are building lifelong skills in our children. We build discipline, critical thinking skills, acceptance of mistakes, openness to try new things, delayed gratification, and goal setting. If we teach our children these skills, they are setup for success in more than just piano.
